Enter Hanna Rockwell. A divorced, bohemian ex-crime reporter turned novelist. Hanna is everything Chance is not: free-spirited, eco-conscious, and happily settled into the spiritual hum of Sedona. Driving her sleek electric car, she’s the last person Chance expects to pull over—and exactly the person he needs.
What starts as a reluctant roadside rescue quickly takes a sharp turn into dangerous territory. Hanna’s sharp, investigative instincts are reawakened when their chance meeting accidentally involves an ex-client of Chance's who is brutally murdered. A mystery killing has shattered the quiet of the high desert, and the local authorities are looking at all the wrong angles.
Drawn together by a crime they can't ignore, this mismatched duo combines forces. Chance brings his ruthless courtroom logic; Hanna brings her intuitive street smarts and knowledge of the Arizona underbelly. As they follow a winding trail of secrets from the red rocks of Sedona to the pine forests of Flagstaff, the friction between their two opposite worlds begins to spark into something much deeper.
